MEET THE 2009 STAFF

Our experienced staff strives to provide a fun, safe summer experience for your child(ren).  The staff is carefully chosen based on their enthusiastic personalities, leadership abilities and appreciation of children.  The Swim & Gym staff will create an incredible sports camp, providing your child with lasting memories.

Each counselor will work with approximately 8-10 children depending on the age group.  All campers will be grouped together by their age, not their ability.  If your child is attending the camp with a friend, please sign them up at the same time and let the office know you want the children together.

The coaches are local college students that are hired for their love and knowledge of the sport and their gift of working with young children.

Staff members receive extensive training which includes American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Classes, Sports and the Young Athlete Injury Prevention and team building.

JOEL– Camp Director 2010

I am currently attending the University of Wisconsin Madison, and after acquiring my Bachelor's Degree I intend on continuing my education and receiving a teaching certificate. I have four years experience working with kids as a Camp Counselor and Swim instructor. As a first-year counselor at YMCA's Camp Y-Koda I received the "Rookie of the Year" award and has since shared the same enthusiasm with SwimWest and Swim&Gym. I am passionate about my work as a Camp Director and I believe my high energy, enthusiasm, and experience sets the tone for a great experience for all of our campers!

I am truly a kid at heart and have as much fun as the kids do at camp, while keeping safety and well-being the first priority. There's nothing I enjoy more than camp!  If every child had the opportunity to take part in a camp like this one, the world would truly be a better place. The activities and role-models here at camp have an invaluable positive influence on a child's life. I am so honored that the campers nominated me for the September 2009 WISC-TV Top Notch Teacher Award. The pictures and letters they wrote were truly amazing. Thanks to all of you!!!
